Project objective

The aim of BorderLink is to improve the employment and entrepreneurial skills of young people up to 25 years of age in the Estonia–Latvia border regions of Latgale, Ida-Viru and Võru counties. Special attention is given to young people from social risk groups, who often face greater challenges in accessing the labour market.

During the project, 225 young people will have the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial, digital and other transferable skills needed in the labour market through a joint practical training programme.

Participants will take part in:

• entrepreneurship training;
• practical workshops;
• business idea pitching sessions;
• cross-border cooperation activities;
• company visits and short-term work-shadowing activities;
• a mentoring programme in cooperation with local entrepreneurs.

The project will help young people gain practical experience, increase their self-confidence and improve their opportunities to find employment, secure an internship or start their own business.

Main activities

The following activities will be implemented within the project:

• development of a joint training programme to strengthen entrepreneurial, digital and other skills needed in the labour market;
• preparation of teachers and trainers for the implementation of the training programme;
• piloting of the training programme in Latgale, Ida-Viru and Võru counties;
• delivery of training for young people up to 25 years of age, including young people from social risk groups;
• organisation of joint workshops and practical learning activities for young people from Estonia and Latvia;
• organisation of matchmaking events bringing young people together with entrepreneurs and potential employers;
• organisation of short-term work-shadowing activities in companies;
• implementation of a mentoring programme in cooperation with local entrepreneurs;
• organisation of a final entrepreneurship fair and idea-pitching event to present the project results.

European Union co-financi

This project is co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg Central Baltic Programme 2021–2027.

The programme supports cross-border cooperation to develop joint solutions to regional challenges and to build a more sustainable, innovative and inclusive Central Baltic region.

The total project budget is EUR 858,586. The European Regional Development Fund contribution is EUR 686,869 (80%), while the project partners’ own contribution is EUR 171,717 (20%).

The budget of the Ida-Viru Enterprise Centre is EUR 177,191, of which the organisation’s own contribution is EUR 35,438.
